New Shoes

Eila has been cruising around on the furniture and crawling for a little while now. In light of this as well as the colder weather, Eila has gotten her first pair of shoes. She has narrow feet and loves to curl her toes, so it was a little difficult finding just the right pair, but she is starting off at a size 3.5 M (Stride Rite). She seems a little confused with the extra weight on her feet, but overall likes the shoes, I think. At least, it seems that she likes to play with them when they aren't on her feet and taking them off appears to pass the time nicely too.

Finger Foods (and the difficulty of)

As you can see from today's picture of the day, we've started Eila on some finger foods. Her current favorite is "Oat O's" from Whole Foods.

Just like anyone else doing anything for the first time, Eila has had a bit of difficulty transferring food from table to mouth. She has no problem (or very few problems) actually grabbing the food with her hands. The issues arise one she gets it to her mouth. Eila doesn't actually let go of what she's holding on to.

Eila will: bring something to her mouth, open her mouth, close her mouth around her fingers and the food, take hand and food away, start chewing (or gumming) nothing. Later, she will notice that she still has food in her hand and try again and again. Sometimes she'll get it right, though.

It's very strange.
