Eila really enjoyed Thanksgiving this year. She also allowed her parents to enjoy the time with family a little more than in previous years. Eila showed off what we'd been learning in preschool about good manners and showing kindness and respect to all. When we left one Thanksgiving dinner, she went around and gave very nice hugs and kisses to each person telling them what a lovely time she had and how wonderful the food was. I was so very proud.
One of our extended family traditions is anonymously writing down what we are thankful for. We take turns reading the papers and guessing who is thankful for that. Eila's was one of the harder ones to guess. When asked "What are you thankful for?" she replied "You!" So, that's what her paper said and everyone felt very loved!
In preparation for Thanksgiving, Eila spent all week making turkeys. We traced her hand, then I cut out about 30 hand prints. We both cut out legs and waddles (or gobbles as we called them) and she glued them all on and colored each turkey with a specific recipient in mind. I wrote each person's name on the appropriate turkey. She made so many because these were the people that she wanted to tell that she was thankful for them. I think she would've made more, if I hadn't stopped cutting out handprints...
